If you get the chance watch Don't Look Up on Netflix. It's a withering satire on what happens when truth loses its traction. It's set in the USA and takes the whole madness of Trumpian-type inspired false consciousness and media disinformation to a very scary place. It's utterly brilliant and...
Of course it is totally the right thing to do to call out the lies that Johnson continues to tell at PMQs. His behaviour is an affront to Parliament. But to expect him to stop it is naive. The guy is a serial liar and this has not prevented him from rising to the highest position in the land...
Braying ranks of Tory backbenchers cheering the Spaffer regardless of what he says but willing to stab him in the back if the opportunity arises. Depressing.
Even by his own woeful standards, the fat one was very poor today. Mr Speaker had to admonish and also shut him up. He is utterly awful under Starmer's forensic questioning. But it's good viewing as he is skewered on a weekly basis.
Well spotted. But they all do that, not just Sunak. It's the house style - and it grates. We've got a Cabinet full of nodding dogs. (Of course they all loathe him really.)
Another instalment today. Perhaps the Fat One will be keen to avoid being upstaged by Sunak (his only serious rival) and his statement on the economy, so he'll probably ramp up his performance by being even more evasive, unconvincing and annoying than usual.............and that's saying something.
Pleased to see that the Speaker picked up The Fat One today on his juvenile habit of referring to the SNP as the Scottish Nationalist Party. Other than that it was very much business as usual with Starmer asking perfectly reasonable questions in a reasonable fashion and Johnson not answering...
PMQs should be lively today. There is now clear blue water between the two parties on Covid. Andy Burnham has been playing the north v south divide card (a difficult one for Sir K to play given he's from Surrey). There's the issue of free school meals which might prove to be an easy target...
Today PMQs will be interesting as Starmer has now pivoted towards 'the science' and uncoupled from the Johnson direction of travel. Johnson's attack line will be informed by the pressure he's under from his own backbenchers to loosen the lockdown. So we'll now have a properly (OK, traditional)...
A pretty typical PMQ today.
Starmer: asks precise, detailed and pertinent questions in a clear and reasonable fashion.
Johnson: gives the same answer to each question.
At one point Starmer had to ask him to listen to the question. Not that it makes any difference to the answer.
He then did...
Bit disappointment by Sir K today. He allowed the Spaffer to play the 'are you with us or against us' card too easily. As he has agreed to all the lockdown regulations, it's tricky then to appear to criticise the outcome of them.
The real opposition to this dreadful shower came today from the...
Today's attack lines will be interesting. Will Sir K go for the Russia issue? Will Fatty respond by answering a question a question directly, or simply bluster? In predicting the latter, I claim no unique insight.
The thing about Johnson - well one thing - is that he can actually stand in Parliament and 'admit' responsibility. But everyone knows it's meaningless.
Yesterday Johnson insults care sector by blaming them for not following guidance.
Today Johnson doesn't apologise but softens his langauge. Explains that no-one knew that Covid 19 could be passed on by asymptomatic sufferers. That explains the errors by the care sector.
Problem 1. it was known...
Same old, same old today. Starmer asks perfectly reasonable questions, Johnson doesn't answer them and grandstands to the bleating sheep behind him. End of.
