  1. Harry Wilson's tackle

    [Football] RIP Norman Hunter

Apart from the one who eventually felt he had to move seats. But it was very funny. Which I why I still remember it fondly :lolol::bowdown::cheers:
  2. Harry Wilson's tackle

    [Football] RIP Norman Hunter

Back on topic.... I saw him live at Stamford Bridge in 1970, at The Dell in around 73 and at Shitehole Park around 76. The Leeds team was pretty much the same in each of these games (76 team was the most different with Cherrie, Currie, Jordan and McQueen). Never saw them again till we beat them...
  3. Harry Wilson's tackle

    [Football] RIP Norman Hunter

Rose tinted spectacles. The Hunter Lee exchange is remembered because it was so rare, and it had nothing to do with pride. It was about intimidation, it was snide and, in Hunter's case (he says it was the first and last time he ever hit anyone), it backfired when Lee lost the plot. Nobody stood...
  4. Harry Wilson's tackle

    [Football] RIP Norman Hunter

Mate, I look back at your antics at Boothferry Park 20 years ago with a shake of my head :lolol: :thumbsup: Yes, it was 20 years ago. Absolutely staggering :mad::wozza:
  5. Harry Wilson's tackle

    [Football] RIP Norman Hunter

No worries - why would you? It was a sort of apology to those who have seen my explanation (and hopefully pre-empting the 'there you are, going on about your schooldays and Leeds again, you silly old poof' sort of comments I get from certain posters based in Withdean and Ruislip )
  6. Harry Wilson's tackle

    [Football] RIP Norman Hunter

Spot on. And not just football wise. Just look at the physiques: It all seemed jolly fun at the time but I would no more swap today's elegant game, comfy stadia, and better behaved 'fans' for a slice of the 70s than I'd swap my nice diet and daily shower for Fray Bentos steak and kidney pie...
  7. Harry Wilson's tackle

    [Football] RIP Norman Hunter

I have on numerous occasions. Here we go again.... When I was eleven, in 1969, every boy in my class 'followed' a first division side, even though we went to the Goldstone. We all carried our homework in little club sports bags bought from Woolworth. This coincided with most of us being allowed...
  8. Harry Wilson's tackle

    [Football] RIP Norman Hunter

Bremner went 20 odd years ago. Heavy smoker
  9. Harry Wilson's tackle

    [Football] RIP Norman Hunter

One of my favourite players, back when I followed Dirty. RIP  Edit, that Franny Lee incident was a disgrace, though. Like the Giles and Keegan incident, it looked like it started with a coward's punch (delivered with no preamble when the victim wasn't even looking).
