The Tesco shop there is interesting. I assume they must have bought up the neighbouring shops to build the old supermarket which is now the Komedia.
I don’t really remember the supermarket but used go there in the 80s when there were some great second hand record places in the building.
What was that building next to the church - it looks art deco-ish and thought it might have been the ice rink but then I also thought that was further up the hill
I remember them as being a huge space with big wooden doors on the cubicles that you had to put 2p in to open? I also seem to remember that there was that horrible public toilet stench due to a lack of ventilation.
If the tiles are all in place, it would be amazing to clean them up and open up...
The Tamplins Ales advert looks like it might be giving directions to the Maltsters Arms. There was a Maltsters Arms in Montague Place which closed in 1960 according to the Closed Pubs website.
