Love that old pic. Half way up Richmond Street is a break, I was told to stop horses and carts descending the lot out of control. My mum lived in Richmond Street as a kid.
Interesting that a fighter was over the UK at that time. I had thought that overwhelmed by the RAF/USAF, the Nazis were fighting a defensive air war over the continent, as well as the V weopons.
I drew a map line from that SE corner of the railway station, over the roof of Hardy/Fawcett and came up with the Islingword area. Isn’t Elm Grove further north, and the church/school further up Elm Grove wasn’t a big size?
To the west of that, I think was Fiat dealer's Tilley’s, the site later became Oakley who sold high end Volva Penta powerboat engines. Dull information for the day :smile:.
I saw that 7 years later at The Regent (the Disney 7 years cycle), the first movie I can kinda remember, age 2 or 3.
We went to that old Odeon in 1970 to see The Aristocats.
