Handy with the garage next door - you could have a couple of cheeky ones, then stagger out to the car, fill up with fuel and drive home. Now your only option would be to get a taxi!!
I was at the junior school for 1 year only, left in 74. Not my favourite year at school, hated doing classes on a Saturday morning. I managed to get a detention for running across that road to catch the bus.
Don’t recall that so much but I have been to plenty which have long since stopped being cinemas, like the one in Western Road, Hove that became a furniture store - the Embassy?
Can’t believe what an eyesore those university buildings are, and why the residents of Falmer and Lewes allowed them to get built without at least putting up some sort of objection?
I was at the Goldstone that Sunday morning too. I was trying to remember when the old roof on the North Stand came down as it’s still there on that picture?
I’d say the first one was with the old St Joseph’s in the background?
I remember catching the special bus to Wembley in 1983 from where the Waitrose is now.
You can see how that building has been lovingly cherished since it stopped being a bank. It’s been given a true Brighton makeover. It’s probably what Swansman had in mind with his ‘graffiti is good’ comment a while back!
I was there that day. I recall being stood on the East Terrace. I remember that the pitch was being replaced and had all been dug up, and the picture seems to show it was just soil there so would back up that this was the promotion celebration bash on that day which was indeed a Sunday...
I used to love it on that corner when they had the old fashioned poster showing what the next few home games were going to be. I’m sure someone must have a picture of that somewhere, seems a bit old hat now but it was always exciting to see what was coming up!
