I thought this would be a suitable thread on which to post this; Lovely 5 minute feature on Saltdean Lido on today's Bargain Hunt. Highly recommend a quick look.

That's where I was born, nearly 70 years ago!

That's a cracking set of before and after photos.

I boycotted Forfars after signing the "Ban the Bun" petition when the Cuttress family who owned it and lived in Falmer village, campaigned against the new stadium, even though they were very pro-Albion before Falmer came in to the equation. The Pizza parlour there now I can highly recommend...

I lived just down the road from where this film was shot - where Cowley Drive merges in to Bexhill Road, from 1962 to 1975, in Foxdown Road. The no. 48 green bus terminated there, whilst the no.45 red bus terminated at Cowley Drive shops, about half a mile down that road. It used to cost 5 old...

I had an unfortunate nose - pickaxe handle interface situation when I was 11 years' old, back in 1967, so went to the ENT to have my nose reconstructed as good as they could. 10 years later, I went back in again for more of a cosmetic job, as they couldn't do that during the original operation...

I was taken to see Snow White and the Seven Dwarves on ice there, around 1960. I was just 4 years old. The dwarves were taller than me!

In my defence, I meant it wasn't there when we walked along the route! :giggle:

I don't think so. I believe Kemptown goods yard was mainly used for coal in my day.

I've probably said this before, but I've walked over that viaduct around 1970. The trains had stopped by then! We walked from Kemptown goods yard, through the tunnel, across the viaduct, and turned back when we actually saw trains!!

Is the photo marked, or is that someone with a 12 foot beachcaster waiting for a bite? o_O

I used to misspend a lot of my youth on that landing stage.

I planted that Kaulreutia paniculata (the tree coming out on the left), in 1985.

What a fascinating photo. Could it be a swimming pool? I used to look after these gardens throughout the 1980's but never thought they would have looked like this 50 years before.

No "safety" fencing back then (visible in the photo). Fencing only started to be discussed in 1976 apparently.

The fencing is visible in the old photo too.
