I respect what you're saying and does have logic to it but when a defender is being selected, it's their defensive attributes which will always come first-off regardless of what style the team may play. Duffy isn't good enough for a team in the top half and I doubt he will standout for Celtic...

So if a club who finished top half of the Prem had the choice between a Brighton defender who started all last season and still is 1st team, or a player who sat on the bench for the Albion last season and now has been loaned out to Celtic in the SPL, they'd pick the player who couldn't get in to...

They'd buy Webster all day long.

He may have made a few mistakes but it was clear and obvious from the beginning what a better defender he was to Duffy. I think some people just get deluded with favouritism when it comes to judging players. Every Webster mistake gave some people more excuse to claim Duffy was the player he wasn't.

I rated Duffy when we were 2nd division. I thought he was the missing piece of the jigsaw which turned us into the dominant force we were in our promotion. But once we were playing the better teams in this division, so often he looked like the player the opposition were targeting for errors...

Just had a little read through the thread to see there was a rather strong opinion that Duffy was miles better than Webster (page 4 onwards). Wonder if those same users still think the same? This post received 7 thumbsup :lolol: :

Had Duffy been better at reading Doucare's movement, I doubt he'd have had it so easy in running half the length of the pitch with the ball then opening his body up and putting it exactly where he wanted without any pressure on him the whole time he had the ball not to mention the 2 defenders in...
