    [Music] Albums 2020

Been working through the Resident top ten: 1 Working Men's Club -- don't get it; it's like a poor version of W H Lung; they really go for these New Order-ish bands 2 Porridge Radio -- been listening this since its release, it easily makes my top five albums of the year 3 Sink Ya Teeth -- new to...

Will give it a spin. Ta, and good to see you round these parts. Would be grateful for a top ten of 2020 from you. For all sorts of reasons, my familiarity with this year's releases is even poorer than usual.

Oh my, the new album by The Budos Band makes you move, and is a real candidate for AotY

I'm loving All Messed Up by Angel Olsen, which is a stripped-back, atmospheric re-write of the tracks that featured on 2019's All Mirrors, which really showcases the strength of the songwriting. The number of females singer-songwriters that have emerged in the past decade or so is quite something.

I love Kiwanuka and as good as the album is, I'm not convinced it's as good as Love & Hate, although I'm struggling to think of any albums from the last decade that's as good as that. As an aside, I've actually got a few albums from that list: Moses Boyd, Porridge Radio, Laura Marling. I also...

Keep on keeping this thread alive  Courtesy of your two most recent posts on it, I can listen to Nils and Laura on Spotify (a fairly recent platform for me), and then will pop down to Resident to buy them when that's possible

It's extremely good, and I'll be surprised if it doesn't find its way into a top five/ten AotY list. She's extraordinary in the way that she combines ambiguity, force, gentleness, edginess, etc I'm also enjoying Myopia by Agnes Obel in what so far at least has been an extremely sparse year for...

Alexis P's album of the week in The Guardian, the article begins with this paragraph: Porridge Radio frontwoman Dana Margolin recently gave an interview to the NME that took its headline from one of her quotes: “I’ve always known that we’re the best band in the world.” Margolin went on to...

You are now becoming a jazz head. The wonderful thing about the genre is that it is so amorphous, and attaches itself to others so, if you dig around, there's always certain combinations that hit your particular spot. PS if you don't know them, the last two Binker & Moses albums were great, ie...

Well, I've heard next to nothing this year, but I have heard Dark Matter by Moses Boyd, which is a cracker. He's finally getting the recognition he deserves.
