Out of all five standing I reckon that Nandy would be the most likely to win Labour a GE.
Personally, I think Dan Jarvis would be the Labour leader with most potential, but it seems he doesn't want the job, understandable!
Starmer I like but can't see him appealing to enough people they need...
Immigration and low wages is probably a big reason IMO.
The issue then for the Tory party is how they reduce immigration and increase wages so that the expectation of Brexit is realised, otherwise it may not matter who is Labour leader at the time of the next post Brexit GE, voters will go back.
IMO Brexit was the main (note, not the only) reason lots of ‘working class’ people who normally vote Labour voted Tory.
However, the real question is why so many working class people, who normally voted for Labour, voted for Brexit in the first place.
It seems that research is looking at how experience affects attitudes.
I don't think that article backs up what I am saying or what you are saying?
Are you saying that there aren't socially conservative working class people?
Again note that I'm am not saying social conservative attitudes are...
Like I say I don't have any evidence. When I say half I am talking statistically. Some people will tend towards social conservatism some people social liberalism, IMO there would be a typical distribution between the two traits generally amongst everyone, and therfore within a specific group...
I don't have evidence as such, but IMO there is no reason why working class people are more or less socially conservative than the elite, or whoever. There would be a typical distribution from very socially conservative to very liberal.
As for whether or not it should be a liberal party I would...
The problem for Labour is how do they remain a party following the principles of liberalism and expect socially conservative working class people vote for them.
