[Politics] Next leader of the Labour party

I honestly don’t think they care. More interested in an inexperienced left-winger to spread the word than a more sensible Centrist who has a chance of giving the Tories a run for their money. Chuck in a bit of self delusion about why Jezza lost the last election and you’re done. Sent from my...

A little more realism on the cost would’ve been good. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I agree with everything you say here, but how many politicians “manage” their views to get elected? Boris has changed with the wind over the years and even Hilary Benn was a loonie leftie in the 80s. I haven’t a clue what Starmer stands for either but I think that’s kind of the point for him...

[Politics] Next leader of the Labour party

I’ve mentioned it on other threads, but there are people who genuinely think Maduro is doing a great job in Venezuela. While people with those views continue to exist, you’re never going to get the likes of JRG to concede anything..... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Not to JRG I would suspect. He thinks Militant Tendency sold out in the 80s

[Politics] Next leader of the Labour party

Point taken on my use of the word. Maybe its because I can remember him supporting Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness. I thought it was repulsive at the time and I still think its repulsive now. Maybe you should just blame the press for absolutely everything.....

I see what you did there. Ok - on the collaborator bit, but would counter with use of pacifist when he shared platforms with convicted bombers....

[Politics] Next leader of the Labour party

You forgot IRA collaborator. Contrary to the views of diehard Corbynistas and those who were too young to have lived through the Troubles, many do still remember that and are sickened by it....

[Politics] Next leader of the Labour party

Yep. The words profit and dividend are dirty words for the far left. Completely failing to understand that that is what is needed to build up their pension schemes. I remember losing it at London Bridge with some civil servant striking against changes to his Final Salary pension a few years...

[Politics] Next leader of the Labour party

I don't think the answer is to move to the centre ground, its just to be less radical. Those policies will always appeal to the idealistic young but those longer in the tooth were more sceptical of the ability of Corbyn to carry them out - quite rightly, because he wouldn't have been able to do...
