[News] Crossrail Delay: Line will not open until 2021 as costs increase

To give you an idea how friendless HS2 is, The Bow Group have come out today and said they no longer support HS2 due to the ever increasing costs (the current 85bn is generally believed to be on the low side) and due to the lack on integration in the current rail network. Who are the Bow group...

[News] Crossrail Delay: Line will not open until 2021 as costs increase

The plan is to reduce the services on the existing west coast mainline thus reducing the options for those South of Birmingham once HS2 is built. Do you travel to London much and do you see the existing travel times as a major issue?

[News] Crossrail Delay: Line will not open until 2021 as costs increase

56bn is the original. 85bn is current thinking. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2019/jul/20/hs2-could-go-30bn-over-budget

[News] Crossrail Delay: Line will not open until 2021 as costs increase

Not just me but anyone that lives between London and Birmingham as the line is useless to anyone in that catchment area. It will also reduce capacity on the existing mainline making things worse. Personally, I'd rather we blew £80bn on Projects that have a wider benefit. Strings has highlighted...

[News] Crossrail Delay: Line will not open until 2021 as costs increase

Upgrading the Steam trains and Infrastructure on the Chiltern line for a fraction of the cost is the answer. The quickest train to London from Coventry is 57 minutes (and one where I could have a seat and work if I needed to). It sometimes took me 45 minutes to get from Euston to Victoria at...

[News] Crossrail Delay: Line will not open until 2021 as costs increase

What use is a 2nd line if they decrease the amount of trains on the West Coast mainline and you don't live anywhere near the new train station (because an airport and existing train station isn't enough) at Birmingham International which is the last stop before London on the new line? The final...

[News] Crossrail Delay: Line will not open until 2021 as costs increase

Don't get me started on HS2. I live in the Midlands and am constantly told how great HS2 will be. The reality is that this would actually reduce the number of trains on the West Coast mainline, decimate half the countryside and increase costs on the brand spanking new line to save a whopping 10...

[News] Crossrail Delay: Line will not open until 2021 as costs increase

This. Crossrail involves constructing around 26 miles of tunnels beneath London and 10 new, bespoke stations. I don't think a rise of £2.25bn from the original budget is that bad, not in comparison to the cluster that is HS2 anyway.
