We had guests in Miami who had been affected by the BA strike.
They had a flight back to LHR with VA and a connecting flight up to GLA with BA.
BA could only put them on a flight 3 days later so we paid for the train for them the day they arrived as part of the protection they had.
It’s...
I must point out I don’t agree with all these.... but part of the reasons cited
Don’t want to be stranded overseas/will the holiday happen
Poor exchange rate/people waiting for improvement.
Would rather put money aside just in case
Worry over own jobs
TC going under won’t install...
People have been delaying booking and also costs have gone up due to the exchange rates.
Whilst it’s not the reason they have gone under it has impacted
I’ve never really paid any attention to prices offered by other companies for years, but today was a massive eye opener.
I don’t class Virgin as cheap, nor expensive it’s pretty much middle ground.
But some of this TC deals people got are 50-75% cheaper than us and we had very little profit...
I’ve switched to replying to stuff on Facebook now.
So many of the people had quotes with us and smuggly told us they booked with TC because it’s cheaper.
TC pax are going into full meltdown at the contact centre staff saying how we have a duty of care towards them and refusing to pay our prices, I’ve been called a vulture already today. Haha
Branson owns very little of Virgin, basically Delta owned.
I imagine Virgin will bid for the slots here and in Orlando.
There is a massively reduced amount of seats to Florida now.
I think we are being pretty reasonable as a company, we have extended the sale and we are offering low deposits - Granted I am basis....
I have had 2 people call up wanting to go away tomorrow for the same cost as they paid Thomas cook and when its not realistic (seats left is minimal) they...
I have been dragged kicking and screaming into the contact centre to help the sales lines.
there was 200 calls holding, I have every sympathy with everyone affected - but some of them are unrealistic.
Lots of people still book in shops, having the chance to speak to an expert face to face and the people like the whole holiday in-store booking experience.
Oddly some hotels don’t like selling directly to passengers.
The idea of being treated better is not really a thing, you get free upgrades etc as part of packages as well.
There are of course benefits for booking as you do (and I do) but it’s not always cheaper - and doable for some.
