It may be blind optimism but I really think Archer will get Smith early in this innings. I'm predicting a short ball (chest to armpit height) that will get Smith in an almighty mess and fending to gully.
Name me an opener who doesn't offer chances or play and miss a bit. They need luck more than more players (and that's coming from a former opening bowler).
As an aside, I don't think I've ever seen someone score a hundred without offering up a single chance throughout the innings.
This is only his third test. Regardless of how he has been asked to play, he's got out early in at least 3 of his 5 innings so far. No matter how good someone is at playing attacking, aggressive cricket they still need to know how to defend early in their innings. Roy doesn't seem to be able to...
:lolol:
This is why I love test cricket, there really are so many options and intricacies. Hopefully one of us will be right and England will bounce back
Makes you wonder what to do if we win the toss?
I’d have a bowl and try and skittle them cheaply on a wicket that’s been under covers for a day. It’s the only way England have a chance of winning and even if they bat big the weather should save us.
