The Aussies can lodge a request for an active replacement as the concussion rules allow this. A like for like replacement. So basically a batsman. But, failing the test this morning may put Smith out of eligibilities for the next match.

If Smith is out today they should sort a replacement batsman to go in later.

Have to differ with you there. He seems to play with an additional off stump. He plays and misses a lot. He could land another 100-4 here. Two chances that should have been taken already. Strong on the leg side. But the Aussies have worked that out.
