A player released after the transfer window has shut can’t play for another team until the window re opens.
So unless the rules have changed I assume cancelling his contract was always the plan. I guess we exercised the option in the hope of getting a fee for...
That will be the same Glenn Murray who scored 13 goals this past season ?
I’m not saying he should be our first choice striker but he is a long long way in front of Hemed as a goal threat at this level.
He isn’t quick... you can’t say Potter wants pace and then mention Hemed. They are just too similar in many aspects, but Murray is just better than Hemed.
Hemed isn’t any quicker than Murray though.
If we didn’t have Murray I’d keep Hemed
But seeing as we need a new striker I’d let Hemed go and get games somewhere as he deserves to play.
I do actually.
The comment about not feeling sorry for him refers to EVERY footballer who signs a contract willingly for tens of thousands a week and then gets upset about the terms of it. It wasn’t specific to Tomer who is a hardworking footballer and seems to have a great attitude in general.
Think anywhere round that is good business.
Can’t see him making the 25 so assume looking for a sale or a loan with 100% of wages and a chunky loan fee.
Yeah, seems a bit like the Vicente deal.
I’m sure Tomer isn’t particularly pleased we’ve taken up the option on his contract but at the end of the day it was written into a contract he willingly signed (no doubt with a payrise) so it’s difficult to feel sorry for him
You might well be correct, and I understand how a striker might not NEED pace in the new system however when you have two strikers who don’t have any it allows the opposition to maintain a very high line and compress the game when we have the ball, something which happened last season and we...
I’ve nothing against Hemed, decent player.
However the anti Murray agenda that seems to go with it is shocking, 13 goals last season which was the same as Lacazette and Richarlison. Looked tired as the season went on as was being overused, would still rather have Murray than Hemed and we don’t...
I don’t find anything strange, I’m not sure why you are saying I do.
I’m questioning why we’ve offered him a contract considering how Potter likes to play and Hemed’s massive weaknesses which conflict with that. Also surprised Hemed would sign, and judging by how active he is on social media...
Well he hadn’t been offered a contract as per a couple of weeks ago.
So not sure what’s happened in that time to change it.
