Natural goalscorers aren't consistently tackling on the edge of their own penalty area. Setting up attacks in midfield. Marauding down either wing. Imagine pairing that player WITH a natural goalscorer!

Certainly in the first half, he was asked to do a lot with passes from a distance. Irrespective of how high a line Chelsea played, their centre backs were never going to get caught out having been given a few extra seconds notice.

Slowly they all come crawling out.

The penalty spot miss ought to have gone in from muscle memory alone. It's the sort of goal he'll be about to score when he's 70. That said I thought he looked great and against that West Ham defense he'd have got 2 or 3 had he arrived with us earlier in pre-season.
