So this is the second year in a row that we've gone back in for a player who had previously turned us down, now that they have seen the error of their ways.
The Albion always get their man in the end.
(Let's just hope Maupay can hit the ground running better than AJ was able to last year)
Brentford look like they're about to announce the signing of another player (possibly the striker replacement). It might be that they were waiting for this one to go through before allowing us to announce Maupay as a Brighton player.

Local journalists being bombarded by questions about Maupay, but the wall of silence is deafening. Might it be that the story is embargoed until a certain time to allow the club to do its media thing?
Great post and a really valuable contribution.
You've literally described Murray to a tee here. He's not blessed with any degree of pace, but he is an intelligent player with a good football brain. Delighted to hear that Potter knows how to make effective use of that type of player. The...
Please see my original post - I was not disputing the fact that terms might have been discussed. L'Equipe's information (posted first thing this morning) about it being a 4 year deal would suggest that this is (at least in part) true. However, the deal cannot progress until both clubs agree on...
But wasn't that my point? With both Owen and Barclay saying it's not quite done, it would suggest that it's not quite done. Negotiations between the two clubs are still ongoing according to them both. Surely that's not all that complicated either?
I think it would - the agent would have a pretty good idea of what the Albion are offering. If reports are to believed, the offer is far more attractive than that offered by our competitors (unless something changes at the 11th hour).
Nobody is doubting that this deal is likely to get done, seagullwedgee. The point of contention is that we're not quite there *yet*. Brian Owen and Tom Barclay have both independently suggested that it is progressing, but it isn't quite over the line.
People on this board are simply...
Interesting that The Argus have come out today and identified that we are particularly interested in Maupay. Sounds like he might be our primary target for that position:
"Albion are still expected to sign a striker and a right-back this summer and are interested in Brentford frontrunner Neal...
I suspect that he's one of the players in our 'cluster' for that position. It doesn't read like there has been any progress in following up on our interest though.
