Looked strong a few times with the defender on his back. I remember one moment where he had a defender really hassling him from behind whilst the ball was dropping from a clearance. He managed to hold his ground, keep the defender behind him and then very nicely brought it down on his chest...
I wouldn't say they played badly, I just would like to see them play a bit more forward. There were a few times in the first half where Maupay made some decent runs but the through ball never came. Everything just went wide to either Wingback. Maybe the lack of telepathy between the new strikers...
I think once the team gels and Potter can work out his best eleven, we're going to see chances taken and attacking moves looking much more fluid.
I think eventually we're going to see Mooy replace Stephens. Not sure what's going to happen to Bissouma in relation to where he fits in once back...
agreed with your point about the current strike force not being strong enough to get us the goals to stay in the Prem and it's only wise to judge him once we've actually seen enough of him but... I know youtube highlights can be very misleading but just take a look at his distribution on this...
I was supposed to start work an hour ago (self employed). This is starting to get ridiculous. Come on Maupay, think about our livelihoods. Innocent souls are depending on you.
His distribution looks top class too. I doubt we've had many strikers in our history who can pass the ball as well as Maupay. I can see him threading through passes for March and Trossard to run onto, cut in and really test the oppositions defence. Looks like an essential signing to me.
We need Lorenzo Pinamonte to explain to him that moving to Brentford instead of Brighton was the biggest mistake of his life, and that includes swapping his Lamborghini for a Ford Focus and selling his wife to pay off his overdraft.
When you consider some of the greats they've had upfront over the Prem years i.e. Julian Joachim, Agbonlahor, Dion Dublin, Juan Pablo Angel. Villa fans would feel outraged (and rightly so) if they looked at Championship centre forwards.
Based on the youtube clips. If I had to chooses between Neal Maupay and the Moroccan bloke. I'd defiantly pick Neal Maupay. He looks like a better version of Florin. What impressed me most was his passing. He can drop deep, thread well weighted through balls and looks good at spraying the ball...
