First line perfectly describes his touchline antics and is, of course, the real reason he was fired. His outrageous antics were bound to cost him his job eventually.
3 wins in 23 including embarrassing home defeats, virtually no goals or chances created and absolutely no sign that the run of results was going to change, including Chris’ own comments.
But he did keep us up. Got enough points over the season to enable us to finish 17th. You can’t pick a single result between two other teams as the deciding factor.........
Could be....or that he was the problem, and it was the attitude and tactics that forced us to play that way. I guess that’s what TB concluded hence his decision.
Tellingly for me - I can’t find the direct quote but I think it was after the Arsenal game - he gave a very clear indication that he expected next season to be ‘more of the same’....I recall it sounded very negative. Almost a kind of ‘we know our place, we’re bottom feeders and always going to...
Yes - sorry - edited it.....I was hoping Anya1000 could enlighten us, as appears to know.......
.....but now seems to think he was fired because he was ‘too nice’.
Winning 3 in 23
Almost getting relegated from a comfortable mid-table position mid-season
Clearly indicating that next season would see more of the same
Getting walloped at home in two key games
Starting with a bizarre formation vs Newcastle at home
Not being able to get a tune out of the club...
Sacked - contract paid up (unless sacked for breach of contract obviously). Business’ decision
Mutual consent - big sum paid, up to and including the amount of the contract but allows both parties to avoid being blamed and implies ‘agreed it was time’
Still think TB probably offered a mutual...
Agree....after Bournemouth or Cardiff, I reckon TB decided that he had to go if we stayed up, but if we went down he’d keep him. Partly why the decision was left until the end of the season, and why CH was ‘surprised’ because TB wouldn’t have wanted to give him an inkling in case we went down.
Crap
Did enhance the brand and for 4 years did a good job, and at times outstanding. However he didn’t get shafted. Club owner made a decision he thought in the best interests of the club (his club) after a desperately poor half of a season with seemingly little inclination to stop the rot...
Absolutely true to type and in line with his press conferences, post match interviews etc. Being 'surprised' is about as controversial as he'd get. If he genuinely wasn't expecting it, might partly explain why it ended up being a sacking rather than mutual consent perhaps. We'll never know -...
