'We' Brexiteers were not in a position of power. We had to rely on politicians in Westminster, who had been given a mandate based on what they'd promised, and who welched on it.
And if the powers that be in the EU decided that it had turned out to be impossible for us to leave, they would have carte blanche to impose on us whatever they wanted. Opt outs? No, you can't leave, so why would we let you have/continue to have opt-outs?
Answer is: we wouldn't keep our hard...
I know you and I fundamentally disagree on the "benefits" of staying in the EU - but "nor would they wish to" .............................. oh, wouldn't they just!
Yes, we were lucky to get away with it. Does anyone think we'd be allowed to get away with it again, if we'd voted remain?
Well, to answer my own question, some D**w**ts (including quite a few on NSC) would, but
Oh, FFS! OK then, have it your way: they're going to make us only have straight cucumbers. Whatever. Should have been in bed long ago, judging by that reply.
'Ask a teenager, while they still know everything' is actually a joke. These days, you could really substitute 'remainer' for...
You give the sort of petty examples much beloved of remainers trying to mock. Couldn't give a sh*t on the shape of a cucumber, and unless you're a serious weirdo neither do you.
So try this: 'OK, you can cancel Article 50 and stay in if you agree to join the Euro'.
They are everywhere. There was some oik trying to get on tele when Theresa May was getting into a car yesterday by pratting around with a 'Stop Brexit now!' banner. No explanation - just a mindless nonentity trying to get on TV - who probably couldn't put together a coherent reason for remaining...
As opposed to standing outside Parliament (or outside No.10, trying to get on TV when Mrs. May is leaving) with a placard saying 'Stop Brexit now'?
To which we'd reply, yes my lamb, we know you feel entitled ................................
HE wants to, yes, but WE want that too - or at least a majority of us do, as indicated by the result of the referendum. Parliament needs to be bullied into it, if that's what it takes to remind them of their responsibilities to keep their promise to respect the outcome.
There is an old saying...
No. Brexit, once achieved, is the gateway to returning to normal politics in this country. Going back to voting for the party which overall best reflects your views. Currently Brexit is the only issue.
That's why a vote for any of the parties currently represented in Westminster, virtually all of whom have tirelessly worked to f*** up Brexit, is a wasted vote, just voting for more chaos.
Just the Brexit, thank you - which is all he is standing for. The nasty stuff can stay with UKIP, which is why hardly anybody will vote for it any more.
Thanks for the heads up. Being stuck all day on NSC I had no idea there was an election coming up ............................................
......................... though if you manage to keep this thread less toxic than t'other one, it was probably worth starting!
