A former Thai navy diver has died while taking part in efforts to rescue 12 boys and their football coach trapped in a flooded cave in Thailand.

Apparently, one of the options whilst the rain is holding off, is to drill the rock, and make a narrow passage a little wider, to make it easier for inexperienced divers. If you look at the link I posted, there are cross section diagrams, showing the different areas.

The USA won't want to know if the youngsters die. There is no guarantee they can be 100% rescued.
Obviously I hope they all get out alive and well, but it's still a very serious situation.
A caving expert has just been on BBC Breakfast. There's an appeal out for small full face masks which would help youngsters to breathe normally. To get to the beach area from the outside and back out again takes three hours.
He said if it had happened here, they would have died of hypothermia...
The food and medical supplies are good, but they're in very damp conditions, so let's hope they can get them out before anyone starts deteriorating.
Water is being pumped out, but more rain is due tomorrow.
I really hope they can get everyone out alive and well.
