You need to get out more then! Honestly, there really are some stinkers out there (and no, I'm not sad enough to have a list of them; some of them are so bad you have to try to forget them, and I have succeeded).
Don't know if you're in a minority or not, but I suspect that many of us started out that way, but have changed our attitude over the years because of the Scots' collective addiction to ABE, often in a most vituperative form.
Their official National Anthem is the same as ours, God Save the Queen, the official National Anthem of the United Kingdom, of which they are a constituent part.
Whatever other jingoistic claptrap that they choose to caterwaul is, of course, their business, but an official National Anthem it is...
As an Englishman who lived in Scotland for a number of years (and to be fair, I loved it, and made many Scottish friends) I can agree with that 100%. The hatred of the English at times is hard to believe, unless you've experienced it.
To be fair, the draw often seems to do them no favours - they nearly always (though not this time, admittedly) end up having to play all the Faroe Islands at once.................
