As was Poc's.
But very quickly we've gone from:-
Goals from direct free kicks are really not very common
to
The best 'keeper with most clean sheets being hit upon more times than a cocaine filled pinata at Bez' birthday party.
I guess so, but still...
I've just had a quick look, thinking Gross also scored a couple that were direct free kicks, last season, but he didn't, so that eases my furrowed brow.
So did the team actually only score 1 goal direct from a free kick, all season?
Shirley that can't be right, that's shocking.
How many did Stockdale concede direct from free-kicks?
If that's 1 as well, I'll pipe down.
If that's right, and it also sounds hard to believe (there's no pleasing some people  ) it does rather validate my questioning We are certainly not short on set piece takers all of a sudden.
Esp considering the fact that, like our northern neighbours, some of our players are no strangers...
Can you please refresh my memory of the goals scored direct from free-kicks, other than Pocs?
I genuinely have a terrible memory for this sort of thing, there may well be loads.
As much as I'm being a little obstreperous, I'm not really remembering that many goals from any dead ball situations, last season, let alone direct.
Probably why Poc was allowed to take one.
We now only have 2, and nobody has seen either one play live.
Unless of course you're including the shower of shite from last season, that were so bad they even let Dunk kick the ball 5 yards, TWICE.
I don't see that at all.
The club needs to buy a statement striker from somewhere on the globe, just not England.
'All' that fella needs to do is score 8-10 goals and look decent and instantly his market value has risen exponentially.
Then in an ideal world it also picks up a young loanee who...
I still think this is more about the bigger fish still to be caught.
If the Albion roll over and have it's tummy tickled for an aging, no-mark, left back, it'll be going full Brokeback Mountain while negotiating for the big money striker.
What if the extra 'it's only a million of so' comes straight out of the marquee striker budget?
Which would you prefer:-
Setting a precedent by paying over the odds on only the third deal this window
Or
Laying down a marker now, with 'just' a left back, to strengthen negotiations with the...
Before politics and racism came along to spoil NSC, a good chunk of the traffic on here was laughing at Pompey and palace for overspending on players x, y & z.
All the while being grateful that Tony isn't like other owners and proud our club is owned by one of the sharper knives in the cutlery...
Money not spent on a left back will add to the funds needed for strikers, as it should be.
Tony hasn't spent HIS money unnecessarily on ridiculous demands for second division footballers.
This time he's playing with the houses money.
Even though we all know he's no Tony Fernandes, and for that...
