Probably a bit late but, like a stuck record, I have to say something about the annual sampler from the truly wonderful Kompakt Records. I really don't understand how they can have such a huge, varied and consistently high quality roster year in year out. Their samplers come with around 25...
I agree on the return to form point. I got tired of the midlife crisis old perv rut he was stuck in during the Grindeman/Dig Lazarus era; I saw Push The Sky Away as the return to form. I don't agree about pedestrian though. I love the droney atmosphere of the opening track. The second track...
I'm a late convert to this band. I really didn't get or like their early stuff but thoroughly enjoying the more mature and electronic path they're now treading. Alpha Female and Celestial Creatures are two of my favourite tracks of 2016.
Saw them live as well, they apologised for Brexit
Funny. Sting was the first thing I thought when I listened to this although I got some Neon Indian in there as well. I have since warmed to the album though.
As an aside, and I know pre-releases are around for some time before the official launch, but this album is a very recent release; is it...
I'm not aware of any Damaged Bug output this year. I think he's just done two long players under this alias (it's difficult to tel with him) and the last was 2015. Agree they are well worth a listen.
There's a live album coming out soon. Also, if you want to treat yourself they're playing a huge home town show next September in the rather excellent Wuhlheide Kindl Bühne http://www.wuhlheide.de
Three things about these lists
1) The demonstrate how forgetful I am.
2) They cost me a fortune in further purchases.
3) I love them and are a rare NSC occasion when no one bickers.
Thee Oh Sees is a solid running album for me. I dread to think how many miles I've pounded listening to it. There's a companion album coming out soon as well. Great stuff.
I'll compose my top 10 and top 10 only.
Think my number 1 will be LUH and Songs For Spiritual Lovers To Sing.
Radiohead certainly in my top 10.
Thee Oh Sees - A Wierd Exits also.
PJ Harvey
Rival Consoles - Howl
That's 5 . Rest to follow.
