Fair play. But I should refer you to my own book, 'De-constructing Ronnie Irani: The Role of the Insignificant Other in Populist Sport Broadcasting' available at all good booksellers.
I still think Irani might have the edge on him. I (with shame) admit to having read Quinn's autobiography (which at least has the half decent title 'Who Ate all the Pies?') but I believe that Irani's masterpiece is rated by many as the worst sports book of all time.
I think this was the 'monkeys writing Shakespeare' parallel - give some enough air time and the odds are that at some point they might say something sensible........................(I utilise the same principle with my NSC postings.)
Danny Kelly is a bright guy and definitely one of TS's few assets, but the show he did with Simon Jordan was oh so self important as he fuelled SJ's rocket-sized ego. It's difficult to pick out the worst presenters as there's so many of them but I'll nominate the '2 Mikes', Durham + Gough and...
Got to lob Darren Gough in there as someone it's hard to listen to - but he looks positively professorial when you compare him with the legend that was Ronnie Irani who graced the station's output a few years back. You could almost here radios being re-tuned as he opened his gob!
AB is no stranger to controversy. I quite like some of the station's coverage but too often it occupies the 'angry sexist bloke' space and this incident seems symptomatic. Storm in a tea-cup maybe but this sort of thing doesn't play well.
Any views of Brazil specifically or Talksport in general...
