I remember it well, but in my era it was Heavy Metal .... music I detest, so I never went there. Instead, probably going to the other 40 or 50 venues over a 20 year 'career'. :rave::drink::rock:
I only came in at the end of it from about 1982 onwards, for both clubbing and gigs, but I still remember dozens of small venues (plus The Argus ad's pages were full of them). Alhambra, the old Savanna under the Queens Hotel's west end, The Basement, The New Regent, the old Kings Club under the...
FFS, and sold out. My tickets are always bought for me by mates, who do the research.
Just realised, away skiing anyway, so I don't feel gutted
I remember a similar debate over the years as to whether Joy Division performed at the very same venue. Going by this brilliant piece, it was booked but didn't happen due to Ian's death. But Tom Hark, Preston Park ... it looks like you're correct, New Order performed there very early on...
Ditto. My mates & I were mad about them, and still are. I only saw a few NO concerts in the early/mid 80's, including those two. I was far too young to see JD and in honesty I didn't know much about them at all until Ian Curtis died. My Desert Island Discs would include JD tracks and perhaps...
Same here. But I didn’t dare mention that in case I got shot down in flames, because it was originally a Joy Division song. But you’re brave (hiding behind your keyboard). :lolol:
Yes. As they didn’t visit Brighton, we went to their penultimate gig at Portsmouth Guildhall. The greatest gig any of us ever went to by any band. Apparently, so good, they even mention it in their autobio’s.
