Good point. I really do enjoy the here-and-now and rarely look forward more than a year or two. When I hit 40 I tried to figure out why this is and think I have a reason. It works for me though.
Work out the really crapest thing in your life a get rid of it. And work out what excites and interests you most and do it. And above all keep work in perspective.
