I like this.
Irony 1) You don't like the phrase ("insults") "Burns Mk2" yet you've twice told me to remove my "gus goggles" and put away my "rose tinted paint box"
Irony 2) The man who claims to not think Gus was good or bad has only been targetting positive posts and then claims others aren't...
We won League One and people use the points margin we won by as a CRITICISM :lolol:
A points margin over a team including the following players:
Rickie Lambert
Jose Fonte
Adam Lallana
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Jason Puncheon
Morgan Schneiderlin
Seriously, I can accept critisim of Gus.....but...
Probably....because I thought he was really good....because we were good.
It's an extemely complicated logic, I grant you. But I find its often a good one for judging a manager.
Again, I imagine you won't jump on the negative posts in this thread, yet you seem to pick up on the positive...
Seems odd to say anyone who thinks Gus was a good manager has "gus goggles" on.............and then to follow it up with comments which are CLEARLY praising Gus for the job he did (which is what we are doing).
It seems those who are anti Gus often start their logic with "yes we were good under...
It's funny, isn't it.
Imagine looking from the outside. Currently Oldham are struggling in league One.
If someone took over Oldham, got them safe this season. Then got them STORMING league one ALL season and promoted (playing a passing brand of football), then got them settled in the...
You've not read his post properly.
He clearly states the negatives but says he he'd "prefer to remember his era positively" which is a completely fair opinion as an overall assesment. He has weighed up both and chooses to see the whole time as a positive one.
I imagine you have weighed up both...
I like my football team. My football team did good football under poyet and they were doing really bad football before. That makes me happy when my football team do good football.
I don't care if the man making my football team good at football talks a bit, wears pants on his head, enters press...
It's great to have this debate again.
I mean I completely understand those who didn't like how we played under him. Goals, promotion, flair and playoffs are massively over rated.
What I prioritise are my feelings not being hurt, bland press conferences with generic token phrases and not having...
Player from rubbish team in critcisng ex-manager shock.
I will probably trust my own eyes rather than the opinion of a disgruntled midfield kicking machine taking a pop at his former manager rather than maybe admitting that him and his team mates have been woeful for about 5 years on the trot...
He would argue (just playing the devils role here), that he came in and kept a sunderland team bound for relegation in the prem, then guided them to a wembley final and was sacked with them outside the relegation zone.
He could argue that was an "ok" job done at prem level, whether one chooses...
