Again, the much-vaunted U.S. service culture does this in buckets, often interrupting you putting the first fork-full of food into your mouth in order to ask you how it is.

Incidentally the worst service I have ever received anywhere, ever, was in the Dorset. It was SO bad - proper nasty and sneery too - you couldn't even laugh about it. Horrendous.
Generally the service is fine there but really not always. And it's improved leaps and bounds here in the past 10-15 years, really has.
