No dispute that "simply taking in migrants" does not solve the wider problems nor that we do spend money. Lots.
The question currently is whether we are using selective expenditure to appease our consciences and avoid a greater collective responsibility to relieve avoidable suffering...
But if those deaths are preventable ...........?
We have money. What we appear to lack is the will to prioritise its use for those who are suffering and in genuine need whether here or elsewhere in the world.
There are countless organisations and institutions up and down the land that would help
There is also a government that will do all in its power to prevent them from doing so whilst mouthing platitudes and issuing what are ultimately meaningless sound bites.
