Didn't know you could visit White Island, I could see it from the top of Mt Tapawera where the explosion happened in the 1880's. Sliding down a mountainside for hundreds of feet is unreal, it's like being on sticky ball-bearings. But no smell there, unlike in Rotorua.

Someone once offered me Burmese rotted fish-paste in a jar, apparently it's a delicacy for them. Nearly made me puke over all the other food.

I will report that. They have the Triathlon there on Sunday. It's always been a source of concern to the Town Council but they are "maintained" by Looless District Council..
