Seems sensible to me. Like many things in life laws and restrictions are not bought in for sensible users who are careful with what they do but they are there for the irresponsible idiots who don't do things the right way. People often bang on about rights in this discussion but rarely does...
Massacres still happen but I am thankful that they don't involve guns any more as one can do far more damage to far more people with a gun than a knife.
So you are suggesting that we should abolish restrictions on guns because people get killed by cars and drunk people. This really makes no...
Maybe you should associate with a wider range of people.
I think it is worth mentioning here that the reason that most of the people I am referring to didn't complain about the gun laws being bought in is that they all still had guns. Australian gun laws don't prohibit people from...
You seem to be making an awful lot of assumptions about who I associate with.
For what it is worth i spent the first 6 years of my time in Australia in a rural Victorian dairy farm area. Greeny socialists were very few and far between among the farming and hunting community.
That is a first, although the other was my father in law who was angry because he didn't want to sell his gun for less that he thought it was worth (it was held toegther by string) and nor did he want to pay to get a licence for it after not having one before.
Fair points although I for one am very happy that the government did the buy back thing. I feel far safer living in a society where guns are controlled. It is far to easy and efficient to kill with guns.
They didn't ban guns because it 'might happen one day" they banned guns because it did...
Not been any massacres since your government asked people to do that though. Gun crime is down, people in rural areas seem pretty happy, still hunting too.
