I get that, but any player that arrives at the closing of the window still takes weeks to get acclimatised to the club, it's game plan and to get them up to match fitness again if they haven't been playing regular PL football.
All these things take time and in that time games pass by.
It is.
And what is it you do with marathons? You make sure you're well and truly prepared for them before you start one.
If you don't hydrate or carbo load before one you're gone before it's half way.
That's an if everything goes right situation for a lower table team.
Teams also go on much longer losing streaks and never recover.
34 games isn't a lot of games, especially when you've got fixtures against sides like Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, Man Utd among them.
The PL isn't a league that affords time to wait and hold back until windows close.
You have to be going and scoring from the get go. If not you can find yourself in a hole with few goals and few points and little time to rescue a situation.
Some teams are better at identifying and developing forward talent.
Some teams are better at identifying and developing defensive talent.
We are the latter.
A 10-15 goal striker isn't out of our range. Maupay proves that we can find it. We just need one that has different qualities to Maupay or Connolly.
Thus far we've not spent any great sum of money on a new recruit so realistically if our budget is around 40-50 million a player in that 25-30...
Our biggest problem in the PL is not scoring enough goals.
We don't need a huge uptick but we do need another forward who'll put in another 10-15 otherwise I can see us struggling again if go through bad patches where we can't put any back of the net pressure on other teams.
Wouldn't Norwood be the more likely out?
I'd be holding on to Tomer until the next window as by then we'll have more of an idea on how our striker stocks are travelling.
