Not seen any other in that colour combo, but there have been some in the other colour combinations, Blackburn and Hartlepool away shirts last year come to mind.
I thought it did look better, much better, except when the players had their backs to us, then it just simply wasn't Brighton, combined with the blue shorts and socks it looked so blue, no hint of white.
In addition, Lewes were wearing our new away kit (their home kit) and that really did look...
That is soooo sneeky
Although....

I guess the trouble is that the Amex logo has to appear on a solid background, blue or white, by order of the American Express Logocops. This is normal for brand identity, if you read 99% of brand ID guidelines they do not allow the logo to appear on 'broken' backgrounds, or non sanctioned...
You've hit the nail on the head pretty much with what you've written. Success will be based on sales to fans, nothing else, it is after all just the shirt the players need to wear during matches.
On one hand I'd like to see Nike banned from supplying kit to any UK club until they sort out...
I think the problem is that unlike other brands, the Nike shirts don't have a plain white panel in the centre of the front, so the sponsor has to compete with the stripes, hence the Amex transfer is inclusive of the white background . If you look at the Barcelona shirt their sponsor is made up...
I don't know of any Nike kits without an iron on sponsor so don't get your hopes up. If they change the print pattern of the striped body then we might get a plain white panel, but the logo will always be ironed on.
Haha, that's not really fair, I have said a number of times that I thought it would look pretty good, because Nike do make good looking kits, and that is what I'm disappointed with as I don't think it looks as good as I thought it would, the sleeves are a huge let down IMO.
I was very scathing...
Orange is definitely Sunday league, away is off the teamwear peg. Home is a miss mash, sleeves from last years Everton shirt, body from the teamwear Inter shirt, collar from the Hoop template, looks ok but the sleeves are grim, and the sponsor logo is a shocker. I really thought it would look so...
To be fair, all Nike shirts have iron on transfers, even Barcelona, City and United, however, that one does look like a shocker, but the Amex logo won't go over stripes without the white border. I guess the fact it's nike will ensure sky high sales, followed by inevitable "my logos is peeling...
