Are you sure? It might be a long week for many on NSC, but the way things seem to work in the January transfer window of late is that there's a frenzy in the last few hours. A long week, or a frenzied few hours?

I thought I was the one that did the pedantry around here. I was actually thinking that we would either just sign him or not, as opposed to loaning him then signing him, but I do accept that that wouldn't be the precise opposite, being a pedant and all that. Still keen to have a bet with Carrot...

Well I'd put money on the opposite. How much do you want to bet?

This is also one of the things I'm pretty sure that Oscar wants. This is one of the things that he seems to have evolved from Poyet's somewhat ponderous and precise passing game.

Ashley claims in this that Mason isn't really suited to playing up front as a main striker. This footage suggests that he's more like a 'fox-in-the-box', as most of the goals are from inside six yards, and those that don't are him running on to a through ball. If Barnes is right, and we play him...

But this was under Gus, rather than Oscar. Can't see Oscar deviating from 4-5-1/4-3-3 although, as has been pointed out on the KLL thread, Oscar is not as rigid as Gus with his wide players staying wide. Also he seems to like to play left-footed players on the right, and vice-versa. I appreciate...

Didn't we turn our attention to Upson when it was apparent that van Dijk wouldn't be leaving in January?

They don't work transfer money out as you're indicating. What they do is add together the transfer fee and the wages spent over the duration of a contract. So, Ulloa cost c£2m on a four year deal; they work the cost of this out as £500,000 per year plus whatever his wages, bonuses, etc amount to.

I like the way you formulate your argument Biscuit, but I'm persuaded by the La Liga argument too, which can be encapsulated by the fact that La Liga is the best league in the world, and that their youth development policy -- probably alongside Germany and maybe Holland, at present -- is the...
