4th Test build up, KP being magnanimous

As you've acknowledged, I said he should bat at 6, not 5. Shane Warne suggested a couple of tests ago that it would make more sense to move him up to 6 rather than expose a new all-rounder in that position, although since then, Stokes scored his maiden test century batting in that position. I...

4th Test build up, KP being magnanimous

The worst Australian team I've seen in my lifetime was the one that hammered England 4-0 in England in 1989. That summer England were in such disarray, they used 29 players in the series and their best batsman got himself into a psychological meltdown facing a bowler sending down medium pace...

4th Test build up, KP being magnanimous

I think what has happened to Prior is that he has tried to put his foot on the accelerator the moment he has come out to bat and not given himself time to play himself in, conscious that he has the tail coming in behind him. That's why I feel they should have moved him up to 6 rather than...

4th Test build up, KP being magnanimous

Prior shouldn't have been dropped. If anything, I'd have moved him up 1 place in the batting order to 6, to give him more responsibility and to try and cut down on him batting with the tail all the time (although on current form, some hope). Bairstow doesn't have the technique to bat in test...

Seems to be an Essex thing. Nasser Hussain was never much good at winning the toss either.

4th Test build up, KP being magnanimous

Not exactly a vast pool of players queuing up to replace him. It's been a bad series for him and Pietersen will always give opponents a chance. If you want someone to play a Boycott style 7 hour innings of scoring 8 runs an hour, he isn't your man. But I think the problem is we aren't rotating...

4th Test build up, KP being magnanimous

Why is Broad playing when evidently he still isn't fit? It's evident how little faith the England management have in the back-up seamers when they are prepared to play a 70% fit Broad over a 100% fit Finn/Tremlett/Rankin. Makes it all the more strange that they left Graham Onions at home.

And has over 200 test wickets to his name. He just hadn't performed against England before.

4th Test build up, KP being magnanimous

He's due a big score. I think if England manage to win the toss for a change and bat first, he could have an opportunity to make a 'daddy hundred'. Pity the series has already gone though.
