I think you are correct that Allam wants the club to be supported "by hundreds of thousands of fans from elsewhere in the world", but as the only option he sees open to him in order to make the club financially viable.

Personally I think Allam's intentions for Hull have the best interests of the club at their heart - in regards to the renaming he just appears to have misjudged the views of the majority of fans.
