    no one is reporting this. i can only assume you are refering to changes to net contributions, or changes relative to previous proposed budgets. as far as i recall the stated objective was simply to reduce (or at minimum freeze) the budget. job done.

    be interested to see where you've found that the budgets been cut but our contributions rise. i can only find a reference to "EU officials calculation" that implies the net benefits drop, not the actual contribution (of course they will if the budgets gone down).

    no, this was regular budget planning, for 2014-2020. the EU had originally want an increase of around 10%, which we, Germany, Holland and a few others thought was a bit rich when we are cutting budgets at home. France thinks we can just carry on spending. we won and got a cut in the budget.
