Indeed, given the deposit is £5k anyone thinking of voting for an "independent" should ask them where that £5k came from.

Disagree - all bar one are connected to political parties so in my mind that excludes them straight away. The remaining independant is a religious nutcase who may have been funded by the Greens. All equally poor.

I'm abstaining because I don't believe any of the candidates are any good and because the current system is fine. Using your logic I should vote regardless just to ensure my right to complain ?

It somewhat defeats the point of democracy to make voting compulsory. After abstaining in common place in parliament.
