Spot on.
I can understand it being moved this year and am happy it has, but if this happens again - then that quite honesty is a total joke.
And to those moaning about another game which isnt at 3PM - if you want Premier League football, then you must get used to it as it will happen a lot...
It seriously does ask questions, the fixtures came out in June so the club would have known then there would have been problems, so why couldnt have anything been done then ?
Because they didnt think to sort it out then, the game has been moved. Although i am now able to work for double pay on...
It simply couldnt go ahead, especially as they hadnt sorted anything out in advance for travel so the club has made a good decision. It needs to sort it out though for future seasons as we cant never have home Boxing Day matches again.
I predict another 10 pages of a binfest on here, moaning...
Thats probably all they can say and they told you what is already common knowledge. Clubs do have a responsibility to fulfill fixtures, although if the "Safety Advisory Group" says that it shouldnt go ahead, the FL cant really say no - considering the Police are in SAG too and i doubt the FL...
If the club could have it on Boxing Day with no travel disruption - they will. If we were at Withdean - no question this would certainly be played. But you cant get 23,000 people to a stadium with no trains, a vastly scaled down bus service and possibly even no P&R.
I do want it to go ahead...
People on here should also remember that not EVERYONE can drive or is able to get a lift. I mean you can hardly get a lift there and expect the person to wait around Brighton for a couple of hours (unless they are a woman, in which case they can knock themselves out with the sales).
Driving...
Maybe at the actual Preston Park "gathering" - yes. But a hell of a lot more than that turn out on the streets. Probably the biggest event which takes place in Brighton, along with the Marathon, the Bike Ride and a couple of others i cant remember right now.
Off-topic - but it wouldnt be...
As i said, Pride was different this year. It was later (maybe due to the Olympics - not sure) so we wouldnt normally have this problem as its usually the first weekend of August. I think it only started to be organised in June as a new organiser took it over - hope someone can correct me if im...
Then what i have been told in the past is totally wrong - ignore i ever said that. I need to get a better SAUCE.
We were away first game so we would have been away on pride weekend - wouldnt usually happen as Pride was late this year.
Less income from food, drink, programmes ?!?!?! Seeing as we sell shed loads as it is. Match by match ticket sales will suffer too, as will away ticket sales - the club would lose so much money.
There is only a limited (about 9 each way) service between London and Brighton because of the high costs to run a service. I highly doubt much, if any, money is made on this service. And in the past was before there was a lot more union interference, unions would strike if you force staff to...
The staff get 2 certain days off each year - Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Now, if your being forced to work - you won't without some extra incentive like most jobs with Boxing Day. Im sure you wouldn't like being forced to work for no extra incentive on a day your due to have off.
That and...
Still cant see this going ahead and the club is taking too long to confirm either travel arrangements for it or whether it will be moved. 80% of people getting to the Amex use "sustainable travel" which includes trains, coaches, P&R and matchday buses - the only one of those which now has a...
