That was an assault and you could have complained that the police officer assaulted you. Its just proving it all though.

Members of the public and the media do not need a permit to film or photograph in public places and police have no power to stop them filming or photographing incidents or police personnel. This is from the Met website. It seems that (if you really wish) you can film the police.
