Which is my point as well. I don't have a particularly problem with it, but like fox hunting it's the part of the sport that no-one wants to talk about in this country. Why ?
I'd more respect for the honesty. No-one in the meat industry attempts to make out that the animals don't get live on...
I think the figure relates to horses that have run that course, rather than the race itself. The figures are out there. I don't want to see the race banned, just admit it's a national sporting event where it is highly likely that a death of a horse will occur. Even your figures prove that.
Just...
I understand it's the same with Greyhounds too. Forget about the fox, see how many hounds get a bullet in the head every year at half their natural life span.
I don't particularly care for Horses, Foxes or Hounds - what annoys me is the bleating from supporters of sports involving animals who...
.. sounds familiar too. Same arguments trotted out before the hunting ban. The argument soon moves away from the animals towards the people involved.
At least that's more honest. Horse racing is a human activity loved and enjoyed by humans. It has little to do with the love of animals.
It reminds of the defence that the fox hunting chaps made when the ban was being discussed. They screamed that thousands of dogs would need to be down.
They routinely destroy on a routine basis at half of their natural lifespan. Can't remember the exact figure - but it runs to tens of thousands...
Obviously not, but back to the subject "The National" (however hard you try to deviate) they can't really love horses can they ?, not on the basis of the routine deaths.
No that would be hypocritical.
I'd imagine they will all turn up next year though. The routine death of horses at the National (an average 2 per year since 2000?) doesn't appear to make the event less desirable ?
I'm not moralising, I would just like to hear a little bit more honesty. I can only conclude that the death of...
I was talking about the National. They both routinely lead to the death of an animal and both animals prior to the game lead a fantastic life. I'm a meat eater and not that concerned about animal rights. I'd just like a little bit more honesty about the event. It is what it is.
No particular problem with horse racing, but the National does seem to be a concern doesn't it ?
Are you saying it's ok for horses to die routinely during the event because people like burgers.
Is there any difference with Bull Fighting ? I struggle to see one. I'd imagine the bulls quite...
