I was thinking about this today. Did the club apologise for overreaction or inappropriate investigations or whatever was the cause of the ban being overturned by an independent commission?
And then said "Maybe it's best for everyone to put this to bed now as a bad episode. It's done and I doubt very much any apology from certain people will be forthcoming."
Been a while since I read the commission's findings but from what I remember they found it impossible to tell exactly what happened, but don't believe the brighton fan physically attacked the palace fan (in the palace fan's report he only said he feared an attack, not that one had happened), but...
I don't particularly have a problem with it. I just think this idea that it's impossible not to have a go at the gloating palace fan, or that it takes a rare sort of person to just walk out does a disservices to the many fans that did just walk out.
I completely understand someone saying "I couldn't do it", I don't understand "No one could do it" or "I can't imagine anyone ignoring it" when there is an example of the tens or even hundreds of people who managed to walk out without confronting him.
By all accounts, it seems as if very few of the brighton fans in the area felt the need to confront the palace fan. Regardless of the fall out of this incident, regardless of whether it's right or wrong, why are people acting as if it is so hard for a brighton fan not to confront a palace fan...
OK, but that isn't contradictory to the fact the club has changed how they will handle things in the future, which is Drew's position. 'It can be both' is my point.
I wouldn't. But that doesn't go against my not confronting someone who does. I'm not saying the guy was right for enjoying his teams success over us in the corporate hospitality section of the ground, I'm just saying I wouldn't feel so aggrieved by it I felt the need to confront him.
It seems like some of you are arguing that water is wet, and the other that the sky is blue.
I have no comment on Hebbard's position. But I do agree an important aspect of this whole situation is that the club have learned from their mistake. The report referenced the change in procedure, so it...
