Yep, almost got knifed in Ryde while trying to find a footy friendly pub - my fault - wearing colors around predominantly Saints, Pompey turf. I ran away.
Agree with all - except the sweeping condemnation of IOW - there are some truly stunning locations on the Isle - true, one or two chavvy towns, but some beautiful scapes.
No dis-respect to our future combatants - but Hull was the most featureless windblown wasteland I'd ever visited on my Seagulls away days.
