Is that how it works? The new owners pay (eg) 5p in the £, but have to pay all of the preferred footballers debts?
When the choice is liquidation, or x pence in the pound, I thought you could do a deal with the preferred creditors too. eg, you can have 10p, or nothing, which do you want?
No I...
Isn't that all that happened in Scotland - ie, it was voluntary?
I understand the players are preferred creditors, but when you have no money, even they lose out. Just don't pay and don't play them and invite them to go elsewhere.
And while these players are over-paid, they are worth some money...
This is why I'm not really feeling sorry for them. The big issue is whether or not they can use the ground. If they can, then I don't see what problem they have. Start again and have a great adventure. It's not like us, with no ground.
But, can they get use of the ground? Doesn't Chainrai own it?
Good thread. Show's how ridiculous it was last time round and how this is exactly the same. And Chanrai again! FFS, he must be making a nice chunk each time or he wouldn't be doing it.
Wow. How can Andronikou have got away with it.
How do we know the £17m loan was made up/secured illegally, and why can't that just be wiped off if you're right?
Although our fans did more, it's difficult to imagine some protests would have made any difference.
What's the worst that could happen to Pompey, after all this cheating? They start again in the conference with no ground, but a ground in Pompey that would be there to hire. We were 45 minutes from being a lot worse than that, and we did nothing wrong.
If we're one of the creditors, we can petition Sir Tony to insist on 100% payment, or let them go bust. Meridian would love that, Pompey made bankrupt by Brighton & Hove Albion :lolol:
Indeed it does. I guess this is what happens when these clubs are allowed to carry on as if nothing happened.
But who are we blaming, the FA? Actually, although the ones that suffer are the creditors, isn't this their fault? When they are offered 1p in the pound, shouldn't the say 'no'? Isn't...
That's not too realistic, as they'd have to sell every player before their next game, and they wouldn't be able to play it as they'd have no players, so the club would be out of the league. But I agree with the idea that the club should have to sell their valuable players, and they don't get to...
More nonsense. You're suggesting that Pompey fans could have stopped the premiership developing as it has. That's like suggesting any newspaper reader is responsible for the media.
That might be fair comment. Have Pompey really never protested against the people that have been ruining their club?
Agreed.
That's nonsense. Most pompey fans know their club was going through money at a ridiculous rate and many assumed it would end it tears, but there's little most fans can do about it. To suggest they didn't question it is ridiculous.
That's like Palace fans saying it's our fault we lost our...
Laughable. The club is the parent company. However, I still empathise with fans of a club that has been run into the ground.
So Brighton fans did more to save their club from crooks, but our crooks were more easily identified, and we were able to see what they were up to early on. And a large...
