How long do you reccomend you should take to drive between the two? Apparently it's an 8 hour drive, is it a good drive to do in one day or is it better to take a couple of days?

I'm doing this this summer. Was originally planning to drive down from Vancouver to L.A stopping off at all points inbetween. Unfortunately I've only got two weeks so have had to considerably downsize. The plan now is to do L.A-San Fransisco-Vegas. That should be more than enough for two...
