[Football] The "delaying the offside flag and letting it play out" thing

Yes its completely irrelevant. Its one of those things that match commentators keep going on and on about when it has no relevance whatsoever.

Good performance for me. Unlucky not to win. My highlight was the double chest back Bart. Talking of whom, that save before the pen was given was unbelievable but went largely unnoticed with the other drama. Stonewall pen and stonewall dive on the first. Well done var (even tho it should...

[Albion] A thread of positive things about FH

I think he's done an excellent job. Yes, he's made some mistakes and got the tactics wrong on occasions, but brave to try and easy to criticise after the event. He will only get better.

    [Albion] Fab's pre-West Ham presser

Agreed - we need a centre back who can go down when touched, then wave his arms around after they score.

He did some good things today, but he does seem very average for what was paid for him. His decision making is often very poor and he has some very irritating traits - the worst of which is flinging himself to the floor in dangerous defensive situations.

Decent fight in the last half hour, but just too easily played through at the back especially given the quality of the Brentford attack. Line too high again, Hope JP is ok.

Not getting the negativity. I'm seeing a really good performance here - even if we'd have gone in 1 down.

Point gained I reckon. We deserved to lose that.

Exactly- that was his mistake. He was back as the last man but for some reason completely switched off.

Hadn’t even noticed before watching the highlights but he did exactly the same for the second goal too, which completely backs up my point (the foul not given by var). He gets a touch and goes down hoping for the foul, which is probably less than 50/50. He needed to stay on his feet (which he...

I think we had the plan to cover it - Gomez dropping back while the defenders were high. It’s just that Gomez inexplicably wandered off in the wrong direction just as the ball was hit long.

If he’d have been ‘smashed in the face’ it’d have been given and a red card. It was a 50/50 and he gambled. He’s done this about half a dozen times - pretty much every game he’s played and it’s lead to several goals. It just seems to be and easy and obvious thing to coach out of his game. When...

The handball looked wrong to me. It hit his shoulder but then ran very close to his arm without touching it. The shot they showed the ref on the monitor was a still frame of the ball halfway down his arm, after the touch. That said, the one against Hinch could easily have been given.

I think we could have drawn or won that with the right subs. Big fan of Fab but I think he got it badly wrong tonight.

We looked great at times before the subs. I suppose we don’t know who was carrying knocks or who needed resting but Minteh for Adringa would have surely been a no brainer.

There’s a time to try that but you don’t do it when you leave a dangerous attack on if it’s not given. He needed to stand strong and delay the player, not get one touch and fling himself to the floor.
