[Politics] If there were a General Election tomorrow poll

I think that's where I'm headed. I believe that voting should be compulsory given our long struggle for a universal franchise. But I cannot bring myself currently to vote for any of the options. To be fair my old constituency only ever had four candidates and I don't know what the option will be...

[Misc] The Official NSC Bird Spotting Thread.

We moved from Orpington to Lincolnshire last year and have gone from basically pigeons and magpies to a whole range of birds. Last summer a young spotted woodpecker found the nut feeder and is a regular visitor again this year. I did try a bird table but that disappeared in a cloud of rooks and...

    [Albion] Premier League 6-7/4/24

I understand the resentment at City's success but don't share it. Surely we can all rejoice in a Palace defeat as City have plenty of games still to lose?

[Football] FFP instead of points deduction, a luxury fine !!

The NFL isn't the model that's being touted. The NBA, which is, does seems to allow you to keep spending and just pay higher amounts of 'tax'. I say "seems" because I'm new to the subject and it seems crazily complicated. The USA has a thing for trying to keep sports competitive but this sounds...

[Misc] Have you ever discharged a firearm?

.22/.303/SLR/handgun in the ATC. Shotgun at the fairground at Le Mans. Useless at all of them.

    [Albion] RDZ pre-Liverpool press conference

This is where I am. It's one thing to have an ambition of CL qualification and another thing entirely to have a plan to make it happen. There are 9 other clubs that have greater resources than us. In a professional team sport that is always going to tell in the end. So without some means of...

[Other Sport] Defining Sporting Moment of the last 30 years (BBC Poll)

From that list I would probably choose Murray at Wimbledon, with the Rugby WC a close second. But for me, Wiggins in the yellow jersey leading out Cavendish in Paris for a British team is a clear winner.

    [Misc] Old skool ciggies

Loved Ducados, but then Marlboro Red were my usual brand. At least no-one else would take them!

[Albion] Was the Referee’s performance v Roma the best we have seen at The Amex?

He did a lot well and some he could have done better but it's a hard job when half the players on the pitch are doing their best to press the limit on the rules. One does also have to remember that the guidance for the UEFA competitions is different from the PL. I'm confused by attitudes to the...

What about 4-0 and win on penalties?

[Albion] Examples of amazing comebacks please.

1997 Port Vale 4 QPR 4 4-0 at half time. 3 goals in the last 5 minutes.

I don't know what but this has always appealed to me. I think it may be the simplicity.

[Albion] The third goal was offside?

Why is the armpit itself used? The definition in the IFAB law is "For the purposes of determining handball offences, the upper boundary of the arm is in line with the bottom of the armpit". I thought this allows the ball to strike the outside of the shoulder down level to the armpit. That would...

[Football] Everton deduction reduced to 6 points [Update 8/4: ...and another 2 points]

I love the irony of it being those two that should have benefited from someone else's financial doping. In other sports if you cheat you get disqualified. Deducting 6 points or 10 points means nothing. Perhaps Lance Armstrong should have had a few minutes added to his finishing time.

[Albion] Do you want Palace to go down?

I don't understand the issue with Chelsea and I would love to have a spell of being at least one division above Palace, preferably more than one

[Albion] If you could go back in time and attend ANY BHAFC fixture, which one would you choose?

I was going to pick Newcastle (A) 1979 as I've always been jealous of those who were there. But this would make more sense. As a little kid I got taken to a home game against Huddersfield in about 1968 and I hated it so got taken home early. I could stay till the end and see what I missed.
