We finished 23 points behind Liverpool (and they dropped a lot after they won the title: if they'd been pushed all the way I expect 90+ points would have been needed, as it has in recent seasons). That's a lot of extra points to make up.
On the other hand, Arsenal were regarded as "challenging...
Lots of great highlights have already been mentioned but I'd like to add the home game against Bournemouth... that one that people like to quote Jonathan Wilson saying on the Guardian Football Weekly podcast as being "like watching football from the future". Because it really did feel like that...
We don't even need to change any words other than the name. Well, maybe one or two.
If you're in trouble he will save the day
He's brave and he's fearless, come what may
Without him the match will go astray
He's Patrick Patrick Patrick Wimmer
Without him life would be much grimmer
He's...
I've captained Palmer and transferred two more Chelsea players (including Cucurella) into my Fantasy team, which history suggests should cause them to be absolutely hopeless on Sunday. And I've benched Chris Wood so that the points he earns for his hat trick will just sit there wasted.
I've...
You may be thinking of Sussex And The City, although that must have closed around twenty years ago. Everything it sold was from within 30 miles of Brighton.
It was in the unit next to Riddle & Finns that's now an opticion's. The proprietor seemed reluctant to shut it down but said that the...
But I heard that Hürzeler BURNED his notes on Forest because he didn't think he'd need them again this season. He'll be regretting that rash action now. We could be going into the next match totally unprepared.
It's a while since I've been to the City Ground but I'd heard that the intimidating atmosphere was an important part of their home form this season. I can only assume that the ITV4 microphones are as low quality as the pictures.
Fair point, and we've slain some of these dragons in fine style recently as our squad has improved (winning at Hillsborough; beating Chelsea - twice in one season). But human psychology does come into it as well as all the other factors of footballing skill, desire and luck.
Not sure there's a good outcome for us from this game: Fulham that we haven't been able to beat since promotion to the Premier League or Manchester United that we haven't been able to get past in the FA Cup. We're going to need to avoid the winner of this in the draw or defy the precedents.
I'm feeling optimistic about this one.
After the Forest game I retired my long-serving and clearly no longer lucky t-shirt. (To be honest, I'd had my doubts about its powers to bestow good fortune since Rome last year. Sorry, I should have acted sooner.) Since then we've scored nine goals and...
I don't care about the £200m that Uncle Tony spent in the summer. I'm more concerned about the £80 I just spent renewing my passport in the expectation of European football next year, and I won't be satisfied unless we get it.
Even if we beat them comfortably with more mesmerising team goals or edge it 5-4 in a seesaw thriller, I bet Match Of The Day tomorrow will still have us on last. #UnderTheRadar #OrJustPlayingOnFridayNight
Please let it be Potter. Please let him spend the next nine months without a single home win, struggling to get his ideas across to their players, slowly and steadily building up their xG per game but not their actual G, and without another global pandemic to give him space to turn things around.
In my case, complete unawareness that Seagull Travel laid on coaches to the Broadfield games. Maybe I've been really not paying attention but I don't think this has been well publicized. Not that I was at the Amex yesterday, but I've been put off going to Crawley because it's a pain in the arse...
