I think you might be right but I also think the club may be taking a step backwards this season in order to be in a better position to take a few steps forwards in future seasons
Admittedly this season doesn't look great (although I don't know the circumstances). However he won the Norwegian League for the last 2 years, did a good job at Man Utd Reserves, has worked under the best that there is, young, ambitious etc. (but doesn't seem to have a massive ego)
Also the 'special' comment was from some time ago. I think things have changed recently and he wants out. I think he'd take any Premier League job right now and possibly even a few in the Championship...
